Welcome, parents & students, to Rosecrest’s production of “The Little Mermaid, Jr”! I love this musical and I am so excited to be directing for Rosecrest once again!

Rosecrest elementary has a long history of musical theater.  I was introduced to this in 2008 when I was asked to direct the musicals for the school.  That first year we produced “Beauty and the Beast Jr” with myself as director and Mariann Lucy as musical director.  Later, I brought in a professional dancer and choreographer (a former student and great friend), Alex Rasmussen, for “Annie, Jr”.  

During the next five years at Rosecrest we produced five musicals.  I would have loved to continue, however, my family and I moved to California, Texas, and Arizona for work related reasons. Fortunately, we found our way back home to Millcreek where we plan to stay. Now, with the pandemic behind us, Marriann, Alex and I are also back together and in full swing for “The Little Mermaid, Jr”. 

You will find below a rehearsal schedule (please be aware that this may change). We have a tight schedule this year due to a variety of scheduled school days off.  You will notice that I have scheduled rehearsals on “short days” before long weekends.  It is imperative that your student check the schedule daily and attend the rehearsals they are scheduled. Rehearsals will run from Mondays to Thursdays leaving Fridays open for Stage Crew.

I have listed the rehearsals below with a M for Musical Rehearsals or a C for Choreography rehearsals. If it reads M – Blocking or C – Blocking, it means we are doing both, Blocking and Music or Blocking and Choreography.

A GIFT FROM MS. LUCY

Dear Wizard of Oz Friends,
I hope you are all safe and healthy and coping okay with all the changes in your world right now.  I miss you and think of you often.  As it turns out, we aren't able to perform our show as we were hoping we would.  I hope this presentation will bring back happy memories for you as it has for me. I will imagine you singing and dancing along!

 I love you and will always remember the fun time we had preparing and performing "The Wizard of Oz" together.

THE SHOW WILL GO ON!

We hope you all are enduring school from home!  We sure miss seeing everyone's faces!  While it is difficult to imagine now, Ms. Lucy and Mr. Anderson are planning future performances once we can safely gather.  Please keep your costumes handy and in tip-top shape. You can even rehearse with the performance and sing-along tracks.

Refunds for tickets for the cancelled show have been provided.  Once we have firm dates, we will open up ticket sales again for our future performances.

While it feels right now like our show is "somewhere over the rainbow,"  we feel hopeful that THE SHOW WILL GO ON!

Wear your Wizard of Oz Shirt on Friday

Please wear your Wizard of Oz t-shirts and hoodies to school tomorrow.  It will cheer us all up to know we are all in this together!  We have very high hopes that we perform our show again in the future!  Spread the word!

Coronavirus Update

We are all feeling a little WITCHY today!  We need to postpone our show due to new recommendations  by the Granite School District and the State of Utah.  Please see our school website for more information. https://schools.graniteschools.org/rosecrest/2020/03/12/coronavirus-information/

Hug your kiddos; they are super sad.  We feel so badly to disappoint them, but we need to comply with the recommendations!  We will refund tickets and reopen sales when we have a new performance scheduled.  DON'T LOSE YOUR COSTUME!
