Rehearsal Schedule

Following is a link to the rehearsal schedule.  Please remember attendance is required for participation.  Absences need to be excused by Mrs. Lucy.  After two unexcused absences, students will be excused from the show.  We hope you will arrange your activities around the rehearsals, so please look ahead for any conflicts.

We have cast everyone without a speaking part in one chorus. However, if you have the interest, time, and parent permission, you may be in a second chorus (excluding monkeys and winkies).  We will have a permission form for you at our first rehearsal indicating your interest in being in a second chorus.


FIRST REHEARSAL:  Monday, January 6th from 3:00-5:00, all cast required to attend.

Phew! We have had a fun couple of days of auditions!  We are so lucky to have such talented AND BRAVE students at Rosecrest.  Everyone did such a great job.  Thank you for preparing and doing your best.

The callback audition is tomorrow, December 19th from 3-5:00pm.  Students DO NOT need to prepare anything for this audition...just show up with a positive attitude!  Those invited are expected to stay the full time of the audition.

Thank you to all the students who have auditioned and that will audition today!  We will be posting the callback list on the blog Wednesday by 5:30pm.  If your child has been invited to callbacks, they will be held Thursday, December 19th from 3-5pm.  This full time is required, so please plan accordingly if selected.
The final cast list will be posted on Friday, December 20th around 3:00 pm.

Hair and Makeup Instructions

MAKEUP
All performers need to have basic stage makeup applied before coming to dress rehearsals and
performances.  Take some time to teach your performer how to apply makeup, this way he/she
can take care of his/her self for dress rehearsals and maybe then feel confident enough for
performances.  Create a bag for your performer’s makeup to keep with his/her costume.

 Basic stage makeup includes the following (boys and girls):

  • Foundation and powder (not too heavy)
  • Blush
  • Brown Eyeliner and mascara
  • Cherry Lipstick

We do not have people available to apply makeup for the full cast. Unless told otherwise, all
performers need to come with basic makeup applied as explained above.


In addition to basic make up the following roles will need additional makeup.

Mrs. Correy's talking shop:

  • Colored eyeshadow, circles or designs on cheeks. (photos attached for ideas)

Winifred and George:

  • make up will be provided to give the appearance of old age (photos attached)

Sweeps:

  • Soot/dirty face (photo attached) 

Statues:

  • Silver make-up will be provided 



HAIR
Please find the instructions for hair below (by role):

All girls playing a child: Hair half up, curled, and with a ribbon

All sweep girls: Hair in a low bun with a hat

All other girls: updo from the 1910s (photo attached for ideas) 

All boys: hair parted and slicked back

TICKETS to Mary Poppins, Jr.

After amazingly successful ticket sales last year, we are excited to return to the online ticketing
process offered by Ticketleap again this year, which allows for assigned seating during purchase. Yay!  
No more standing in line for hours!  We hope this information will help you have the best experience
possible with this online ticketing process.  
Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, February 27th at 6:00PM.
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Choose the show time you wish to attend and click GET TICKETS.
  • For most devices, you have two options from the next screen.   On the left, you can select the section you wish to be placed in from a drop down menu.   On the right, you can select “Choose Your Own Seats”.  “Choose Your Own Seats” is the best option if you want to be able to specify where you want to sit.  Look carefully for this option.
  • Different devices have different capabilities with the website.  Some devices cannot select seats individually and seats will be selected for you based on what is still available (seats are prioritized front to back with preference to the middle aisle).  Most browsers for desktop computers have the capability to self-select seats, so order tickets from a desktop if this is important to you. A map of the cafegymatorium is below to help you determine which section to choose if you can select a section, but you are unable to select a seat.
  • Wheelchair accessible seats are available.  If this is your need, please look for these sections.   Please leave these seats available for our patrons who need accommodation, unless no other seat is available.  The larger cost for wheelchair seats covers the three chairs next to the wheelchair seat.  This ticket allows up to four to enter.
  • Your printed ticket will allow you entrance into the show, so you must PRINT and present your ticket at the door.

COSTUMING

Here are some of the costuming details for Mary Poppins.  In most cases, costumes can be pulled together from items you have at home or that you can borrow from friends and family.  You may need to purchase a few items (Savers and DI are great for this!). In some cases, we will be purchasing some coordinating items to use in addition to what you put together at home.  We have indicated this on the costume description so you can set aside that amount and budget accordingly. If you do not find details here for your costume, it means that I think Mrs. Lucy has communicated with you directly.   If this is not true for you, please contact me ASAP for direction (Mary Ann Fuhriman 801-502-3661, call or text).

We will have a costume check on Thursday, February 21st.




Mrs Corry’s Talking Shop Chorus Costume


Performers should wear clothing that reflects the period.  
Men wore long pants and long sleeved shirts, hats, caps, ties, jackets.
Women wore long skirts/dresses, long sleeved tops, hats, bonnets, aprons.
Little girls wore dresses (long-sleeved) with long stockings, hats, bonnets, or bows.
Little boys wore long pants or knickers with long stockings, long sleeved shirts, caps, vests and jackets.


This scene is meant to be outlandish and eccentric.  Performers should wear bright colors and include large patterns when possible.


We may be purchasing some coordinating elements for this scene (not to exceed $5).

Feed the Birds Crowd Costume


Performers should wear clothing that reflects the period.  
Men wore long pants and long sleeved shirts, hats, caps, ties, jackets.
Women wore long skirts/dresses, long sleeved tops, hats, bonnets, aprons.
Little girls wore dresses (long-sleeved) with long stockings, hats, bonnets, or bows.
Little boys wore long pants or knickers with long stockings, long sleeved shirts, caps, vests, and jackets.


This scene is outdoors.  Performers should wear that would keep them warm like coats, jackets, and scarves.
This scene is subdued so the color of clothing should be neutral (blues, greys, tans).

Kite Flyers/Park Strollers


Performers should wear clothing that reflects the period.  
Men wore long pants and long sleeved shirts, hats, caps, ties, jackets.
Women wore long skirts/dresses, long sleeved tops, hats, bonnets, aprons.
Little girls wore dresses (long-sleeved) with long stockings, hats, bonnets, or bows.
Little boys wore long pants or knickers with long stockings, long sleeved shirts, caps, knit vests and jackets.


These performers will transition from neutral everyday color (blues, greys, tans) to something a little more “jolly”.  This can be an added bow, sash, jacket, hat, apron…








Sweeps
Performers should wear clothing that reflects the period.  
Men wore long pants and long sleeved shirts, hats, caps, ties, jackets.
Little boys wore long pants or knickers with long stockings, long sleeved shirts, caps, knit vests and jackets.


The clothing of sweeps should be black, charcoal, or grey.


We will be purchasing some coordinating elements for this scene (not to exceed $10).  We will be providing the chimney brush as well.





Banking Clerks


Girls please wear:
  • High neck, white blouse
  • Long black skirt (should come to mid calf or longer)
  • Black stockings
  • Black boots, pumps, dress shoe


Boys please wear
  • White, collared, long sleeved dress shirt
  • Long black pants
  • Black stockings
  • Black dress shoes


We will be purchasing some coordinating elements for this scene (not to exceed $10).  




Statues
Performers will need a fitted shirt and pants or leggings in light grey.  We are hoping you may have these items at home or can find them inexpensively.  We will be purchasing a toga style wrap and wig or headwear for the statues. The cost should be under $20 for these items, so please budget for this expense.





















Honeybees
This costume is being put together by the volunteers listed below.  The cost for the costume will be around $20, so please be prepared to pay for it.  More information will be coming, but if you have questions, please direct them to the volunteers.

Katie Nana’s appearance should be dark (blacks, grays) and practical.  Skirt/dress should be long, as should the sleeves of her shirt. She will need an old, battered suitcase.

  • Basket with seed bags
